Women of Palestine

"Women of Palestine" is a spatial and data-driven exploration of survival, resistance, and the female body under occupation. Utilising the rigorous visual archives of Visualizing Palestine, this exhibition translates stark statistics into a deeply human narrative. The journey begins at the macro level, mapping the overarching architecture of colonial violence and systemic reproductive injustice. As visitors move deeper into the space, the focus narrows to the intimately personal: the physical realities of giving birth at checkpoints, the collapse of maternal healthcare, and the weaponisation of borders to fracture families.

However, this exhibition is not solely a documentation of trauma. It culminates in an immersive reflection on the stolen dreams and enduring resilience of Palestinian girls. By transforming these critical data points into spatial experiences, "Women of Palestine" demands that we look beyond the numbers to see the unyielding spirit of the women holding their communities together.

Doctors
The Right to Bring Forth Life
Childbirth is universally understood as a moment of profound vulnerability and hope.
Palestinian childbirth is transformed from a hopeful milestone into a site of trauma. Forced to labor at checkpoints or in the rubble of destroyed hospitals without medicine, women face a horrifying intersection of state violence and physical vulnerability.
Weaponise
The Collapse of Care
To sustain life, a society relies on its healers and its environment. What happens when both are systematically dismantled?
The deliberate destruction of healthcare through the weaponization of water, the killing of doctors, and the cutting of life-support—has engineered a public health catastrophe. This collapse leaves mothers and infants without any remaining safety net.
Human Cost
Fractured Families & Borders
The cruelty of military occupation is often carried out not just with weapons, but with paperwork.
Beyond weapons, a maze of paperwork and permits is used to dismantle the family unit. By weaponizing ID cards and travel restrictions, the state routinely separates mothers from their sick children and prevents spouses from living together.
