Gaza remains the story

Centered on Gaza; its land, people, and places, Gaza Remains the Story draws a wider frame around the Palestinian experience, placing the Gaza Strip within its rightful historical, cultural, and political context. In a time when destruction threatens to erase memory itself, this exhibition becomes a space to preserve and share stories of ancient cities and daily rituals, of resistance and creativity, of wounds that speak and hopes that persist.

While the roar of airstrikes seeks to drown out life, heritage, and expression, Gaza Remains the Story listens closely to what still pulses beneath the rubble. It explores the cultural and historical layers of Gaza; from its music, embroidery, theater, and visual arts to its agricultural roots and social life, revealing a rich, defiant tapestry of identity. Through powerful texts, images, and sound, the exhibition offers a grounded, intimate understanding of Gaza’s geography, history, and people, and the beauty that, against all odds, survives.

Art & Culture
Highlighting Palestinian resilience through art and culture.
This section celebrates the cultural and artistic resilience of the Palestinian people as a powerful expression of their rootedness in the land. It traces the evolution of music that reflects this deep connection, inspiring the rhythms of traditional dance like Dabka. It also reflects the deep symbolism embedded in embroidery and traditional dress (thobes), where every stitch tells a story of love and rootedness. Visual arts are given a prominent space here, with the landscape and natural environment at their center, alongside a reflection on the history of cinema in Gaza from the 1950s to today.
Historical Context
Historical Context
Understanding GAZA’s place in Palestine’s rich history.
This section highlights key turning points in the history of Palestine and its national struggle, tracing how the image of Palestine has evolved in the global imagination over centuries; from a land without imposed borders, to British military planning and the UN Partition Plan, and into the fractured political and geographic reality of today. It also reflects on Gaza’s long and layered history, from the Canaanites and Romans to the Crusaders and into the present day.
The Impact of Conflict
Wars on Gaza
Highlighting the brutal series of wars launched on Palestine.
This section documents the brutal series of wars launched on Palestine; from the Balfour Declaration and the British Mandate, through the 1967 Naksa and the First Intifada, to the Second Intifada in 2000. It closely examines the repeated assaults and massacres carried out in Gaza since 2000, culminating in the ongoing genocide that began in 2023. The section captures the devastating impact of siege and war; death, starvation, and the displacement of over two million people. Through personal testimonies and lived experiences, it tells the story of those who lived through the violence: children, women, and men who lost their loved ones, their homes, and their voices. It speaks of final wishes, life beneath the rubble, brutal imprisonment, hunger, orphanhood, forced displacement, and the shattered view of the city through the eyes of its people.

Global Solidarity
Global Solidarity and the Struggle for Justice in International Law
This section addresses the ongoing bias of international law in favor of Israel, particularly through the repeated use of the United States’ veto power in the UN Security Council, undermining the Palestinian right of return and self-determination. At the same time, it turns to the hope Palestinians draw from growing movements of global solidarity, and it highlights the role of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement in advocating for international pressure on Israel. The section stresses the importance of understanding the Palestinian cause in depth and recognizing the global shift in public opinion toward justice.
